Within each class, 70 percent of students must be equally divided from among the four congressional districts in the state. The College of Medicine is allowed to admit a few out-of-state applicants each year, but only if they do not displace Arkansas residents with equal qualifications. Out-of-state applicants should be highly qualified and have close ties to Arkansas. Students must have successfully completed the following courses prior to matriculation: Biology (one year); Chemistry (one year); Organic Chemistry (one year); Physics (one year); English (1 year); and Math (one year)or through Calculus I. The MCAT is required, and scores must be no more than 3 years old. Scores from all sections of the MCAT, including the writing sample, are considered.
