Important Notice: LSAT Logic Games are Going Away in 2024!

  • Beginning with the August 2024 test, the Analytical Reasoning (“Logic Games”) section of the test will be eliminated. The LSAT will then consist of two Logical Reasoning (“Arguments”) sections, one Reading Comprehension section, and one unscored section.

  • Up until the June 2024 test, the LSAT will continue to include one Analytical Reasoning section, one Logical Reasoning section, one Reading Comprehension section, and the unscored section.

The test will have three scored sections — one section each of Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension — and a fourth, unscored variable section that will allow LSAC to validate new test questions for future use. LSAT Writing is administered separately online and can be taken as early as eight (8) days before your multiple-choice test date. Remote administration of LSAT Writing will continue for all test takers.

LSAT Sections

Logical Reasoning ("Arguments")
  • 1 section (2 sections beginning August 2024)
  • 24–26 multiple-choice questions per section
  • 35 minutes per section
  • Tests ability to determine main points of arguments, apply logic to abstract concepts, find relevant information within a text, and analyze and evaluate arguments
Analytical Reasoning ("Logic Games")
  • 1 section (0 sections beginning August 2024)
  • 4 logic games with 4–7 multiple-choice questions each
  • 35 minutes
  • Tests ability to understand effects of rules on decisions and outcomes, determine relationships between concepts, analyze situations and draw conclusions based on set guidelines, and apply logic to ambiguous or complex situations
Reading Comprehension
  • 1 section
  • ~27 questions multiple-choice questions
  • 35 minutes
  • 4 passages: 3 passages with one authors and 1 combination of passages from 2 different sources discussing the same topic
  • Tests ability to draw inferences based on text, determine main ideas of passages, find relevant information within a text, understand a dense, scholarly text
