Baylor is a private, Christian research university with more than 5,000 graduate students and over 100 degree programs. It is one of only 37 private institutions in the country recognized as an R1–level research university. Students pursue theoretical, applied, and interdisciplinary research and scholarship alongside renowned Baylor faculty in the humanities, social sciences, business and STEM fields.

Baylor's more–than five–thousand graduate students pursue professional and research degrees across more than a hundred academic programs. Professional and masters students can choose between traditional on–campus or online & hybrid programs. Nearly a thousand PhD students are dispersed among more than thirty programs across the STEM, Humanities, and Social Science fields.
Programs and Curriculum
Baylor's largest professional programs are in Business, Education, Nursing, and Speech Pathology. The largest PhD programs are in Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biology, Physics, Religion, and Environmental Science. Interdisciplinary specializations include Health Science, Data Science, Materials Science, Defense Research, Human Flourishing, Leadership, and Ethics, and Latin America.
Graduate students benefit from centralized and department–level programs designed to support every phase of their education. The Graduate School provides generous travel grants to help students present at professional conferences and conduct dissertation research. Baylor's Graduate Research Center offers a place within our central libraries specifically designed for graduate students. Our Graduate Writing Center and Dissertation Writing Lab help with the variety of writing tasks students undertake.
Faculty
Baylor's thirteen colleges and schools support more 1,100 full time faculty who are routinely recognized for expertise in their fields and known for a commitment to mentorship. Nearly all incoming Ph.D. students receive full tuition remission, a multi–year research or teaching assistantship, annual travel funding, and subsidized student health insurance. Stipend levels are highly competitive, and with Waco's low cost of living, roughly two–thirds of Ph.D. graduates accrue no student loan debt during their doctoral program. Graduate students pay no student fees.
Residential masters programs offer varying levels of support, ranging from a partial tuition waiver to full tuition remission with a stipend. Professional programs typically do not provide funding support.

Baylor is located in Waco, Texas, anchoring a metropolitan area of over 300,000 people. Baylor's location in the center of the "Texas Triangle," an area of enormous growth in population, economy, research and technology that includes Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth, San Antonio and Houston, affords the University rich opportunities for research and service in a dynamic environment.
The 1000–acre campus sitting along the banks of the Brazos River is frequently recognized as one of the most beautiful in the country. The city offers a vibrant, affordable community that is home to cultural attractions such as the Waco Cultural District, Waco Mammoth National Monument, Magnolia Silos, Dr Pepper Museum, and Cameron Park (the second largest city park in the US).
Facilities
As an R1 institution, Baylor is committed to providing faculty and students with the resources needed to excel in their fields. The state–of–the–art Baylor Sciences Building and Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative provide a top–tier research environment for STEM program. The libraries, digital collections, and collaboration spaces provide excellent research support for all graduate students at Baylor. Additionally, on–campus students enjoy the excitement that comes with Division I sports and recreational opportunities available in our Student Life Center.

Gradaute students represent more than a quarter of Baylor's total enrollment of 20,000. Overall, women make up nearly two–thirds of the total graduate student body, nearly one–third are from underrepresented backgrounds, and 10% are international students. Among Ph.D. programs, 22% are minority students, 47% are female, and 29% are international.
