University of Maine at Machias

Bangor International Airport is located in Bangor which is approximately an hour and a half from campus. The Bar Harbor Airport is located approximately an hour and 15 minutes from campus, in Trenton, near Ellsworth. Rental cars and connecting buses are available at both airports for the trip to Machias. Concord Trailways and Greyhound Bus Lines also serve Bangor. West Bus Service provides a connection between Bangor and Machias.

From Points SOUTH and WEST: Follow I-95 to Bangor and take the I-395 exit to Brewer. At the end of I-395, follow Route 1A to Ellsworth. In Ellsworth, follow signs to Route 1 north to Machias. Upon arrival in Machias, the campus is located on Route 1 on the right hand side. Alternate Routes: Take I-95 to Augusta and exit onto Route 3, which leads to Belfast in Penobscot Bay area and joins Route 1. Follow Route 1 north to Machias. From southern Maine, you can take scenic Route 1 the entire way, but be sure to allow extra time. From Points NORTH: Follow Route 1 south from Houlton to Baring. Turn right at Route 191 and continue south to East Machias. Turn right on Route 1 south and continue to Machias. Upon arrival in Machias, the campus is located on Route 1 on the left hand side.

Machias: Bluebird Motel (207-255-3332), Machias Motor Inn (207-255-4862), the Margaretta Motel (207-255-6671), and the Clark Perry House (207-255-4862), a bed and breakfast.
