Applications open August 1 each year and are open through March 1. Applying for admission is free through the Common App or Hanover's in-house application at www.hanover.edu/apply.
Students may choose from a different deadlines including: the binding Early Decision for students who know Hanover is their first choice (November 1) and non-binding options for Early Action I (November 1), Early Action II (December 1) or regular decision (March 1).
Early Decision and Early Action candidates should expect earlier decision notification as well as financial aid packaging. Candidates applying between December 1 and March 1 will receive decisions on a rolling basis, which means the sooner completed applications are submitted, the sooner decisions will be released. Once admitted, Early Decision candidates also receive preferred first-year housing and a reserved spot at our first Learn, Engage and Prepare (LEAP) Orientation date.
Hanover is looking for well-rounded students, so the admission office evaluates candidates holistically.
Standardized test scores are considered, but the weight of applicant evaluation focuses on curriculum and grade-point average. Other factors included in evaluation are the high school attended, letter of recommendation, participation in extracurricular and community activities and the submitted writing sample. In addition to achievement and participation, Hanover values cultural, ethnic and geographic diversity in its student body.
As a selective liberal arts college, Hanover is looking for those students who have completed a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum. To be eligible for admission, an applicant must have completed the following high school courses:
— Four years of English (literature and composition)
— At least two years of foreign language
— At least two years of mathematics, including Algebra II
The following courses are recommended as part of a well-rounded college-preparatory curriculum:
— At least three years of laboratory science
— At least three years of social studies
— At least one year of fine or performing arts
Students who have taken AP, IB and dual-credit courses may be eligible for Hanover credits.
Hanover has adopted a test-optional admission policy. If students choose to submit test scores as part of an application, there is no preference for either the SAT or ACT. Hanover's school code for the SAT is "1290" and its ACT code is "1200". For international applicants, the TOEFL, IELTS or SAT-I score minimums must be met.

Tuition, Room, Board and Fees
Hanover consistently ranks among the top schools in the nation for its value to our students. According to the U.S. Department of Education, Hanover is among the top quarter of schools in the nation that spend the most on services designed to support student's emotional and physical well-being, as well as social, cultural and intellectual development outside of the classroom.
Hanover has recently invested nearly $10 million dollars into campus with improvements to residence halls, technology, roads and walkways and more.
For the 2021-22 academic year, tuition is $39,400, room and board is $12,540, general fees are $850 and the first-year orientation fee is $350.
Financial Aid
Our financial aid program ensures that Hanover is affordable for everyone, awarding $50 million every year, with 99 percent of our students receiving some form of aid.
Hanover's Pell Promise awards full tuition to all admitted students who are deemed Pell-eligible as a result of filing the FAFSA. Hanover also promises all students will graduate in four years (or fewer), or tuition for a fifth year is free. Students can find support through additional need-based and merit scholarships and grants provided by the College.
Hanover recognizes that the ability to fund a college education varies from family to family and the FAFSA does not account for all circumstances. Do not be afraid to ask for help. Our counselors will walk students through the process and help get needed information and funding.

From The School
Hanover's students start companies, create social movements and examine wildlife in the wild – and that is just while they are here. After leaving, Hanoverians join a powerful alumni network of high achievers with connections to jobs in every field.
A typical Hanover student is usually in the top 20 percent of their graduating high school class, with a well-rounded history of extracurricular activities in the service, sports and academic arenas. But their Hanover experience, however, is anything but a typical college experience.
At Hanover, students can design their own major, start their own club or organization and spend May Term immersed in a single course – often abroad. Hanover students leave with a professional resume, already filled with authentic work from their undergraduate internship, combined with practical-meets-technical experience in their chosen field.
Hanover's residential campus-where more than 95 percent of our students live on-campus all four years-is a place where there is always something happening.
When our students are not taking advantage of our amazing 650-acre campus and enjoying outdoor activities like hiking, disc golf or sand volleyball, you will likely find them engaged with one of more than 70 clubs and organizations on campus. Hanover is a place where our students can truly find a place where they belong, so new clubs are being created all the time.
Clubs and organizations include a wide range such as interest-based groups, intramural athletic teams, student government, performers, philanthropic causes and more. Plus, there are four fraternities and four sororities on our campus, with about half of our student body pledged to one of these Greek chapters.

Location
Hanover's wooded 650-acre campus, located on the banks of the Ohio River in southeastern Indiana, is brimming with activity. Our residential campus has plenty to offer for anyone who enjoys some fresh air with gorgeous views. About 400 acres of our campus is completely dedicated to green space, with miles of hiking trails and waterfalls right here for our community to enjoy.
Campus Facilities & Equipment
In addition to incredible outdoor spaces and views on campus, our 650-acres host a wealth of modern spaces and amenities for our students, while maintaining classic collegiate architecture.
Hanover's campus has 12 living units, including co-ed residence halls, apartment-style pods and theme-housing units, as well as four fraternities and four sororities. Two of our first-year residence halls just underwent massive renovations and two new townhome living options were also constructed.
Students will attend classes in our 10 academic buildings on campus, including spaces with traditional classrooms, laboratories, studios, art galleries, performance halls and more. Pay special attention to the Science Center's museum exhibits lining the halls and our incredibly unique human cadaver lab. Each year, the lab will host six-eight full human cadavers for use by our undergraduate students interested in health fields.
The J. Graham Brown Campus Center – known to Hanoverians as "The CC" – has been central to campus life for more than 50 years. In addition to the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, the "CC" is home to everything from three of Hanover's dining locations to the Withrow Activities Center, Haq Multicultural Center and the campus' central mailroom and print shop.
The Horner Health and Recreation Center features a spacious fitness gymnasium with a vast array of workout gear and machines, including treadmills, stationary bicycles, ellipticals, free weights and weight machines. There are also three multi-purpose courts, two racquetball courts, an indoor running track and multipurpose rooms for fitness classes.
The facility also stands as home of Hanover's men's and women's basketball teams and volleyball team. The Panthers compete in John R. Collier Arena, which seats nearly 2,000 fans for sporting events and also hosts concerts, comedy shows, campus speakers and, occasionally, graduation.
The Panther Athletic Complex is home to Hanover's outdoor athletic teams and includes Alumni Stadium, K.T. Young Ballpark, Kops-Bedel Field, Zeddies Tennis Center, soccer complex and cross country course.
Alumni Stadium houses the football and athletic training staffs, as well as locker rooms, training room, pressbox and hospitality suite. The playing surface at C. Wayne Perry Field had its artificial turf renewed last summer and the eight-lane track and areas for throws and jumps were resurfaced as well!
Off-Campus Opportunities
Madison, our college town, is famous for its history, culture and food. Downtown Madison's 130-block historic district is a National Historic Landmark and includes some of the city's most iconic sites, shopping and restaurants. With the number of music, art and food festivals hosted in Madison, it's no surprise that it's also included among 12 official Indiana Cultural Districts named by the Indiana Arts Commission.
Madison shares Hanover's love for the outdoors and hosts a sprawling bike path around the city, one-of-a-kind views along the riverwalk and more. Plus, Clifty Falls State Park is home to some of the most beautiful (and challenging) hiking trails in Indiana.
