Career
Known as the Wildcat Nation, Bethune-Cookman University students convene in sunny, beachy Daytona, Florida. Though students enjoy the benefits of a large research university, B-CU delivers the intimacy and support of a small school in its activities. Each Wildcat enjoys what is known as the 360 Student Experience, a guarantee of the essential services needed for student development, empowerment, and success. Wildcats show their personality and ambition in the many clubs on campus, ranging from pre-professional organizations to dance and choir groups and cultural interest groups from across the Caribbean. Music and athletics further bolster school spirit. B-CU is an NCAA Division 1 school, and Wildcat athletes compete in basketball, cross country, track and field, and football. The best-known band on campus is the Marching Wildcats, boasting over 300 members and their own reality TV show.
Culture
Wildcats are celebrated for becoming leaders in a wide array of fields: the arts, business, education, government, science, and religion. B-CU supports alumni in their career exploration by providing professional development opportunities via LinkedIn Learning. Alumni of note include Yvonne Scarlett-Golden, an educator and the first Black female mayor of Daytona; Kevin Bradshaw, an NCAA record-holder for points scored in a game; and James Drew Bush III, a delegate with the Florida House of Representatives.
