Career Experience
I have previously taught composition courses at the college level, both in person and online, and worked as a writer and editor for a pop culture news site. Combined with my time working as an editor for grant-funded research projects and my role as a writer for a local law firm, I have more than a decade of experience with training and teaching composition, writing, and editing. I have also written many professional academic papers, including multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and three theses, and I am experienced with multiple citation styles. I have also published more general, public-facing pieces for peer-reviewed online venues. My Ph.D. is in the History of the Exact Sciences in Antiquity, and my interdisciplinary interests in ancient history and science make me a unique tutor. I love ancient languages (Latin, Ancient Greek, Akkadian, and Sanskrit are my specialties), but I especially love looking at how ancient practitioners used these languages to record scientific knowledge. My specialty is teaching history, linguistics, and languages, and I am a go-to for guidance in writing. Fun fact: I love learning and teaching, but to get my head out of the books (or away from the computer screen), I also train in the circus arts, including aerial silks and both static and flying trapeze.
