Career Experience
I am by trade a film and TV screenwriter who sold pilot TV scripts and feature scripts to pretty much all of the studios and networks. Before that, I worked in film development, reading and evaluating screenplays and manuscripts, while also giving creative feedback. For the last 9 years, I have privately tutored my own 14-year-old son as he journeyed from kindergarten through 8th grade. I have worked with him extensively in both math and English, helping him to make the honors and dean's lists every quarter of every year.
I Love Tutoring Because
children are sponges who have the ability to learn anything. Many times children have a slight misunderstanding or feel a disconnect to certain lessons or subject matter and begin to doubt themselves. With the help of an adult who has the time and is willing to really delve into where the problems are happening these little missteps can be corrected, and what at first seemed impossible can very quickly become totally achievable. Seeing myself play a part in that process is incredibly satisfying, especially when I have seen some teachers at schools my own son attended who were unwilling to spend that extra time to help guide a student in need.
